    Best Time to Visit Sonamarg

    During the month of November, winter sets in and the temperature drop to sub-zero levels. The town is covered with sheets of gleaming, white snow and that makes Sonmarg even more alluring. For sports enthusiasts, it is the best time to visit as the winters bring with them ample opportunities for winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding. Do carry lots of woolen clothes with you. The best time to visit Sonmarg is during the summer season, from April to June. The weather is very pleasant and the temperature range between 9 °C to 34 °C. This season is ideal for outdoor activities such as sightseeing, camping, and trekking. You can also visit popular attractions such as Yousmarg, Gangabal, Baltal Lake and Krishnasar Park.

    Weather Of Sonmarg

    The weather of Sonmarg is typical to that of the Kashmir valley. During the summers (April to June), the weather is fairly pleasant and the temperature remains between 9 °C to 34 °C. The month of July marks the arrival of the monsoon season, which lasts till September. The town experiences heavy rainfall during this season. During the winter season (November to March), the temperatures drop as low as -10 °C. Heavy snowfall is common during this season.

    How to Reach Sonamarg?

    By Air : Srinagar Airport is located at a distance of 92 km from Sonmarg.

    By Rail : There are no railway stations in Sonmarg. The nearest major station is Jammu Tawi Railway station. It is well-connected to most of the prominent cities of India, including Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Trivandrum, Chennai, Pune and many others.

    By Road : Sonmarg is accessible from the rest of the country, through National Highway 1D (NH 1D). Srinagar, the state capital, is 87 km away and the journey takes approximately 3 hours by road.
