Places to visit in Auli

Like many other hill stations in India, Auli is situated in Uttarakhand, it is towards the north of the state. Auli forms a part of the Garhwal mountain range. Auli is situated at a distance of 16 km from Joshimath, on the Badrinath route. The mountains in the region are as high as 9000 feet above sea level. They are covered with dense deodar and oak forests. Therefore, they often reduce the velocity of the chilly winds to the minimum. The mountains offer a panoramic view to the travelers.

Trishul Peak – Trishul peak is situated at a height of 23,490 ft above sea level. Trishul Peak in the Auli region is the place where tourists gather for skiing, for which Auli is highly famous. It is situated in the Kumaon region, this peak is popular for providing skiing slopes to those who are enthused about the sport and this makes it an ideal place to visit. This is one of the only places in India where skiing is practiced at a professional level. Nanda Devi National Park is also situated in the same place.

Roopkund – It is a spiritual lake; it is also close by lying at the foot of this astounding mountain. This lake is popularly known as the Mystery Lake because 600 skeletons of human beings and horses were found here, the mystery of which still remains unsolved. Roopkund is also a famous spot for trekkers and hikers.

By Road – the nearest town to Auli is Joshimath. It is situated at a distance of 16 km. UPRSTC buses work from Auli frequently to the nearby places including Rishikesh (250 km), Haridwar (273 km) and Dehradun (293 km). Cabs and buses are available easily.
